2012 Opening Round Championship Series
March 30, 2012
Memphis, Tennessee
UW arrived at Rhodes College eager to earn a second consecutive bid to the National Championship Tournament. This year, however, both teams came up short. Team 1195, comprised of mostly first-year competitors put up an impressive performance--taking a ballot off of the tournament favorite, Georgia--to finish with a 3-5 record coupled with the hardest schedule of the field. Team 1194 finished seventh, one place shy of a trip to St. Paul after four hard-fought rounds against Mississippi, Texas, Northwestern, and Portland. It was a disappointing end to the season for some, but there is plenty to be opimistic about and the returning members are hungry to send not one, but two teams, to the next NCT. We'll see everyone in D.C.!
